1/8 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 cups bread flour
1 package yeast, rapid rise
1 tablespoon + 1/2 cup milk, warmed
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons butter, softened
oil for deep fat frying
confectioners sugar
- mix sugar, salt, bread flour, and yeast together.
- warm milk to 120 to 130 degrees.
- beat egg and milk into flour mixture, along with butter.
- allow to rise for 20 minutes. knead dough gently for 2 turns.
- roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
- cut dough into rectangles (a pizza cutter works best).
- allow to rise for another 25 minutes.
- preheat your oil to 350.
- fry a few at a time, turning once when the bottom side has browned. drain on paper towels, then dust gently with confectioner's sugar.
